MSA 260 C-O battery chainsaw: a powerful tool for professional work

The STIHL MSA 260 C-O battery chainsaw, part of the STIHL ALLPRO System, is designed to help landscaping professionals, forestry crews, and municipal workers tackle demanding jobs efficiently. Its exceptional power-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for felling, limbing, and pruning small to medium-sized trees.

A combination of strong cutting performance and lightweight design helps reduce operator fatigue, allowing you to work productively through extended workdays. The interchangeable drive sprocket provides the flexibility to switch between 3/8" Picco and .325" chain pitches, enabling the saw to be optimized for a wide range of cutting applications.

To maximize battery efficiency, the motor features an automatic shutdown function. If the saw is activated but not used, the motor automatically powers down after a brief period, helping conserve battery runtime.

An integrated oil sensor continuously monitors chain lubrication levels, helping minimize downtime and optimize oil consumption. STIHL recommends using STIHL SimplePlus™ chain oil for peak performance. Other high-quality chain oils based on vegetable or mineral oil formulations may also be used.

POWER BOOST

• MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE INCREASE. Thanks to internal intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.

CONSTANT POWER

• CONSTANT POWER, REGARDLESS OF BATTERY CHARGE STATUS. With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with CONSTANT POWER. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.

SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING

• FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.

OIL SENSOR

• FOR CONTROL AND MONITORING OF THE OIL SUPPLY. The LED display on the oil sensor informs you about the delivery of chain lubricant. If the LED is red, there is not enough chain oil reaching the chain. When the oil supply is sufficient, the LED is off.

CONTROLLED-DELIVERY OIL PUMP

• OIL CONSUMPTION BASED ON NEED. The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw’s oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.

TOOL-FREE FUEL CAP FOR OIL TANKS

• QUICK AND EASY TO USE. Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.

TRANSPARENT OIL TANK

• MAKES FILL-LEVEL MONITORING EASY. With the transparent oil tank, you can easily and quickly check the fill level of the chain oil. This means that you always know when you need to add chain oil for efficient work over long periods.

CONTROL LEVER WITH POTENTIOMETER FUNCTION

• FOR COMFORTABLE HANDLING. The control lever with potentiometer function allows you to control the speed of your battery-powered chainsaw on an infinitely variable basis, and in this way easily control and adjust its performance as needed. On consumer chainsaws, the potentiometer function is integrated into the throttle lever.
